Job Title:             Engineering Technician III – Req. #39398 

Job Locations:   Building 4 - 2501 Courthouse drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23454

Schedule:            Monday – Friday 7:30AM – 4:00PM

Pay Rate:            $25.06/hr.

 

Job Duties:

• Perform preliminary design work via field work, product research, specification, writing and plain preparation. 
• Check work for conformance to City, State and Federal standards.
• Review site plans.
• Research legal plate and deed information as necessary for projects; research public and private utility information for design projects and permits.
• Provide assistance with contract administration and inspection services as needed for CIP projects, and provide assistance in contract administration and inspection services on an as needed basis for minor capital improvement program projects.
• Attending on-site meetings with contractors.
• Assume role of lead worker on designated projects.
• Handles inquiries from other city agencies, consultants, and/or general public to provide information related to projects. 
• Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less.  Individual assignments will be determined by the Supervisor based on current workloads and departmental needs.

Requirements:

• Must be able to read and interpret construction plans.
• Must have experience with utilities construction.
• Must have extensive Microsoft Office experience.
• Must have knowledge of contract administration and inspection services for Capital Improvement Projects.
• Must have experience with researching legal plate and deed information.
