The Abacus story began in 1944 when an entrepreneurial street car driver in Baltimore followed a dream to own his own business. 75 years later, the Abacus story is an inspirational American success story. It is a story of growth, development, evolution and business excellence.
Initially working at night, Jesse, with the support of his wife Dorothy started “Abacus Corporation” providing commercial janitorial, maintenance and painting services. When he began, the commercial cleaning industry was very small with most businesses employing full-time day cleaners. As young parents, Jesse and Dorothy were pioneers in the cleaning industry.
As the decades passed, Abacus Corporation continued to evolve and grow into one of the largest privately-held corporate services companies in America with several brands including Abacus Staffing Services, Abacus Solutions Group, Abacus Security Services and Abacus Building Services.
Today Abacus is celebrating its 75th anniversary and continues to build upon a solid foundation of resources and experience as we continue to change in providing resources in an ever-evolving economy.
