NATURE OF WORK:

Enhanced Support Providers (ESP) work with students as part of an intervention team. ESP implement prepared academic and behavioral instructional programs in school. ESP work 1:1 with groups of students. Students may range in age from three through twenty-one. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Implementation of written instructional and behavior plans and collection of necessary documentation;
  • Collaboration with other team members;
  • Communication with lead teacher and case manager;  Ability to submit to and pass background checks; and
  • Assist with the areas of adaptive skills that may include toileting, feeding, dressing, selfhelp and positioning in adaptive equipmentJdevices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ESP will work under the direction of Behavior Specialist/classroom teacher(s). As part of the duties, the ESP will:

  • Work with assigned student(s) as per the assignment schedule;
  • Implement ABA principles with fidelity with all students;
  • Maintain accurate and complete records for each academic and behavior program;
  • Implement specific behavior protocols including crisis intervention;
  • Attend all required trainings conducted by St. Mary's County Public Schools;  Demonstrate all skills as outlined in St. Mary's County Public Schools' trainings;  Maintain orderly work areas;
  • Maintain confidentiality for all students and families;
  • Maintain and submit duty logs and submit according to payroll procedures;
  • Maintain rapport and professional communication with staff;
  • Support students with significant behavioral, emotional and/or academic needs in large and small group settings;
  • Work in pull-out settings with students;
  • Maintain records on instructional programs;
  • Attend and participate in training sessions; and
  • Implement appropriate protocols in crisis situations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Willingness to work with students who present with challenging behaviors and/or intensive learning needs

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

Temporary/hourly position, with a maximum of 35 hours per week.
